Editorial policy

Global Current Affairs aims to explain lasting connections accurately and plainly. We make distinctions between established information, interpretation and uncertainty, and we correct material errors when they are brought to our attention.

Accuracy and context

Articles should use claims that can be checked against reliable, relevant material. Writers should give enough context for readers to understand what a claim does and does not show, avoid unsupported generalisations, and signal when information may have changed. We do not present an illustration or simplified example as proof of a wider pattern.

Editorial independence

Editorial decisions are made for reader value and clarity. A contributor, partner or other outside interest does not receive control over the publication's editorial conclusions. Where a relationship could matter to a reader's understanding, it should be disclosed in the relevant material.

Corrections

Readers can report a possible error through the Contact page. Include the article, the passage in question and the reason it may be wrong. We review specific, supportable corrections and update material when warranted; significant changes should be identified clearly.

Partner material and illustrations

Paid, sponsored or partner-supported material is labelled so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial work. Partner placements are identified in their context and are not presented as editorial endorsement. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; such images are used as illustrations, not as documentary evidence, and are identified where appropriate.

Our point of view

The world makes more sense in connection

We look beyond isolated events to the geography, exchanges and shared conditions that link them. The aim is understanding, not a forecast.
